Dr. Janet Fox

Vice President / President-Elect

Dr. Janet Fox currently serves as assistant dean of UT Extension and head of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. With over fifteen years of administrative experience and a career spanning more than three decades across multiple states, Dr. Fox brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her current position.


Her journey in education began as a middle school family and consumer science teacher, where she developed a passion for outreach and community engagement. This led her to transition into Extension work, initially focusing on 4-H youth development before taking on leadership roles within the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service and subsequently in Nebraska and Louisiana.


Dr. Fox's academic journey includes degrees from Mississippi State University and the University of Nebraska, culminating in a Ph.D. in adult and vocational education, with a concentration in human resource development. Her dissertation, titled "Balancing family, volunteer, and work roles: The relationship among strategies, situations, and satisfaction," reflects her scholarly interests in addressing real-world challenges.


Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Dr. Fox is actively involved in professional associations and networks, including serving as the Extension Liaison for the APLU Board on Health and Human Sciences and holding memberships in organizations such as the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences and the National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences.
